Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Is it discrimination not renewing a minority long term employment contract?
My wife is Hispanic, age 52 and the only woman physician in a large medical organization. After working for 7 years with absolutely no negative performance she was informed 2 weeks prior to her renewal date that the Department was being ''restructured.'' She was escorted out of the facility.
No man has received similar treatment.
The following week the company advertised seeking a man.

You asked about possible employment discrimination.
This situation needs to be investigated in detail immediately. Interview attorneys and find one that has the skill to handle you case and a personality you can work with.
Employment discrimination matters are time sensitive and an employee must bring a claim within a very short window or the claim is waived. Even if you decide to file with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission then you should have an attorney to counsel and inform you.
Please feel free to call.

It certainly may be discrimination; it's always suspicious when a company can't give a good reason for terminating a long-standing employee. You should consult an employment discrimination attorney promptly; they can help you file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and then move forward with litigation.
Time is of the essence -- keep in mind that many of the relevant filing deadlines here are as short as 180 days from the date of the incident.
