Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Employer discrimination
my girlfriend and I plan to wed in may of 2009. The place we both work at for past 17 years enacted a policy in 2002 prohibiting a husband and wife from working together. I need help to fight this since it would not be fair for us to lose our livelihood,

Re: Employer discrimination
You asked about potential work implications regarding a marriage with a co-worker.
The situation you present is actually very common, but looking at the situation carefully you may be able to come to a mutually satisfactory resolution with the employer. It is generally not discrimination to have such a policy, but it may discriminatory if the policy is not enforced uniformly.
In this situation the employer should be approached about seeking an exception to the policy or even changing the policy. This is a highly sensitive situation and may in itself be cause for adverse employment action.
I would be happy to consult on this matter. Possibly broker a solution with the employer that can satisfy both sides. I have extensive experience handling compliance matters of this type and see a number of potential solutions.

Roger
