Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Exempt empolyee required to time stamp day

I am an exempt employee who is being told by my manager that I am required to fill out a weekly activity log of my field visits and to time stamp each visit to make sure I am working 8-4. I am doing the required calls per day but am being told that is a minimum requirement and I can not return to my home office even if I am done my calls earlier than 4:00. Is my manager able to do this to me? No one else is being required to do this.

Re: Exempt empolyee required to time stamp day

This would be acceptable conduct under most circumstances. As long as your manager is doing this for a business reason and not as a means to harass or intimidate you for an improper or illegal purpose. These would be reasons related to any complaint you may have made about improper condcut or fraud, your status in a protected class such (gender, race, religion, etc.) or you association with any of the people.

If you are still concerned about this issue then you should get in touch with me directly.
