Re: extensive background checks for state jobs
The extent of a state employment background investigation will depend on the nature of particular position for which the person has applied. generall y the investigator(s) are looking for any sign of bad character, misconduct or potential conflicts of interest. This usaally involves looking at the applicant's financial history for evidence of shirking debt or financial mismanagement. The investigator(s) will also look for any sign of criminal conduct especially fraud or defalcation (misuse of trust).
Such investigations rarely involve a further investigation of the family but general information is know, such as age, address, phone, convictions and so on. Investigators may not pull financial or other private records with permission and I am not familiar with any case where that has happened.
The questions will generally be about her, such as does she live within her means? Is she trustworthy? Can you recall a situation where she proved her reliability?
The whole investigation is nothing to be worried about unless there was a lie on her application or resume or there is something that should have been disclosed and wasn't.
Hope this helps.
