Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
general manager with no driver's license
I have a restaurant manager that I promoted to GM 9 months ago. Her new job description stated that she would need to drive. At the time she had no driver's license but promised to obtain one within a 6 month period. She still has no license and relies on ''rides'' often from non-employees to go between business locations, banking , etc. Basically she does a decent job but I am concerned about my liability concerning other people driving her around for job related tasks. She now says she is afraid to drive and seems to have no intention of getting one. I question my liability and also the consequences of terminating her.

Re: general manager with no driver's license
You asked about terminating an employee for failure to obtain a license.
There are a number of issues that could be included here. Some may be legitimate inhibitions to a clean termination and others may just be concerns of a responsible employer. You are right to be concerned about liability but also need to respect the laws that may be affected.
Speak with an attorney to handle the situation properly.
