Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Being held at work without pay
My place of employment was closed due to a water break. They made us come in for the shift, however, they did not let us clock in. They did not let us go home either. I was wondering if they could legally hold us there without getting paid for it.

Re: Being held at work without pay
I trust you are an hourly employee and not salaried. The employer must pay you if they kept you there. Otherwise, it would be false imprisonment.
If you have co-workers to whom this happened, this Wages and Hours violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 should be pursued.
Good Luck.
