Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Can my husband collect on a promise note?

My husband was fired from his job for keeping saved invoices on computer (personal).. They have been paid.

No question about that being wrong.. question is about three years ago his boss sent him a note telling him that he would be taking out of his pay check 1/2 of health insurance and would give it back in the form of a bonus. the boss asked him not to say anything to anybody not even the office girl.I say the exboss owes him alot of money and my husband says

the note has no date so it does him no good. I say even if he doesn't have a record the boss does.

any chance I'm right?

Re: Can my husband collect on a promise note?

A promise to pay a specific bonus would be legally enforceable even if it was not in writing. You should talk to a lawyer about filing a claim under the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Act. That law gives an employee a right to collect counsel fees in addition to any unpaid wages. If you are near the Philadephia area i would be happy to talk to you about pursuing the claim. Feel free to send an e-mail directly to me at [email protected].
