Re: What Jobs can I get

You asked about getting jobs with felony drug charges.

The first question any employer will have is are your problems behind you? No employer wants and employee that will bring problems. If you're committed to being a good employee and walking the straight and narrow then there are employers that will hire you. There are of course many employers that won't or can't hire you simply because of the felony. (You say charges, so are the charges pending or are you a convicted felon? There is a huge difference.) It's perfectly legal for employers to discriminate against persons because of criminal history.

You should get yourself to the state social service agencies and also to the various employment agencies that work with felons. There are ways out. Many smaller and "fringe" employers will work with ex-cons. Also, getting skilled training may be helpful, such as learning a trade (electrician, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).

This is something you can overcome. But correcting a mistake will involve a lot of work and hardship. But then you don't have a choice. You have two little ones who you have to be strong for.

Regards and good luck,

Roger
