Non-compete issue
I am writing this in regards to a question about Employment Law.
From 2002 to 2005 I was employed at company (A). From 2005 to 2006 I was employed at company (B). During my employment at company (A) I gave my resignation to my employer and they asked what offer was I given. I explained that the offer was for a specific amount and I had no qualms with company but I was just looking to advance myself. My employer matched the offer that was given and I decided to stay. I stayed within a Inside Sales / Estimator position for a few weeks when I was offered a position as a manager. My paycheck already included the monetary raise and there was no paperwork or anything signed at that point. I met with my boss, VP of operations and the human resource representative in regards to the position. I accepted the position and no raise was given for accepting the position. One week later the human resource representative gave me a non-compete to sign. I had no idea even what a non-compete document was so I asked my boss what does it mean. He immediately said that if I didn�t sign I would be out of a job. Although I was already granted the position and it was announced to the company, which was made up of 14-16 people. Knowing th
