Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
non-competition
i signed a non-compete agreement with my employer, which says in part ''...nor will employee compete directly or indirectly with the company or owner in those geographical areas to which the company currently conducts business.'' It also says ''employee acknowledges that this agreement has been signed willingly and freely.'' My questions are: 1) if i engage in the same business as my current employer with clients who are not in a location where they do business, but my office is in an area where they do business, would i violate my agreement? 2) if i engage in a similar business with clients who may also be my employer's clients, would i violate my agreement? 3) my employer told me i would be fired if i didn't sign the agreement. how does this jibe with ''employee acknowledges that this agreement has been signed willingly and freely?'' they wouldn't remove that wording before i signed it.

Re: non-competition
You asked about non-compete agreements.
These are tricky to interpret and no attorney can provide advice without knowing the situation and reviewing the agreement. There are many factors that can affect the enforceability of a contract and particularly so with non-compete agreements.
It will be well worth the investment of time and money to have an attorney review the matter with you.
