President of personnel agency offers presidency to employee and then backs out
My husband of 21 years was told by the president of his personnel employment agency that in l years time that he has designated him to be his replacement upon his retirement. This man has worked there 24 years when l3 employees made up the company. He has been top producer for 20 of those years as the company now employees 70 technical recruiters. I was also told by rhe president of the upcoming promotion. One year has passed and the Pres. sold the company and now will go public. Without notification to my husband, the brother of the pres. sits as president.Is his verbal contract enforcable? Can we sue for monetary compensation?

If your husband provided some benefit to the company in exchange for the promise or if he relied upon the promise to his detriment (e.g. he did not take anoither job because of the promise) he might have a claim for damages. However, in general, a gratuitous promise. i.e. a promise not supported by consideration, is not enforceable.
