Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Qualifier for Disability?

My profession is that of a waitress. I am also bipolar, and the stress associated with the job has now become intolerable. I have been a fulltime waitress for the last ten years. Recently, I have noticed major changes in myself, specifically exhaustion, anxiety, worry, and continued stress as well as strife within my work environment that continues to plague me even when I am at home or have a day off. I would like to find out since I have a pre-existing condition that can be debilitating over the long run, can I qualify for permanent disability? I recently needed to take time off to adjust to changes in my medication, and upon my return I have been treated with contempt by my superior who arranges the scheduling. I have just had enough of all the stress associated with my profession and I need to consider that a job change will not neccessarily reduce or modify that stress. How can I begin the process to secure disability? I am 52 years old.

Re: Qualifier for Disability?

go to the social security office in johnstown and ask for the forms to complete. call me if you need help. should you be turned down, i will file an appeal if you wish. my fee is 25% of past benefits.

see your doctors. schedule them now. i will need their reports to properly understand your present medical circumstances.

if you have indeed aggravated a pre-existing condition while working your job, we will also need to discuss the Pa Workers' Comp statute and how it may apply to you.

good luck
