Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
What recourse do I have if I'm fired
My boss and I have had an affair. Enough said. His wife is forcing him to fire me after she discovered about our relationship. He made countless promises to me, including a partnership in the business. I left my husband for him and moved into my own place. Now I have no whereelse to go and I won't be able to continue to support myself without this job. What legal options do I have?

Re: What recourse do I have if I'm fired
It depends. Relationships between employers and employees are always frought with problems. What recourses you have will be determined by the specifics of the situation and what evidence or testimony can be discovered or elicited.
From experience I can tell you that this situation will not be resolved easily. It will boil down to an examination of the disparity in the power relationship between the employer and the employee. Such as how the relationship began, were there demands made or was it strictly consensual? Who made the initial advances and were they welcomed or unwanted? As the relationship progressed were the promises made under duress or as part of a bargaining? There is much more that remains to be examined, but you get the idea.
This mess will be tremendously emotional no matter what course you choose. And to that end you have three choices, you can accept the situation, you can leave the situation or you can change the situation.
You need an attorney right now. I can assure you that your employer has already consulted an attorney. You should seek someone who has experience in discrimination or harrassment litigation. I would be happy to speak with you about this matter to discuss potential representation. You can get in touch with me at [email protected].
