Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Required Work During Personal (Unpaid) Time
Is it legal for a company to require its employees to perform a work duty on what is expressly stated as non-working hours without pay? Also, is it legal to require employees to perform a work duty on personal time without reimbursement for expenses incurred in performing said duty?

Re: Required Work During Personal (Unpaid) Time
In general, the answer is no, your company is not allowed to do that. Under the FLSA, which is the overtime statute, most employers are not allowed to do that (with exceptions). Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected], and I'll be happy to provide you with some of the answers to frequently asked questions in overtime cases. You may very well be entitled to back pay, free from any retaliation by your employer. You can either send me an e-mail or give me a call. Thanks.
