Re: salary

You asked about mandatory overtime.

Generally there is no upper limit on hours that an employer may require an employee to work. Some industries do have limits, such as trucking, but this is a departure from the norm.

There is a rule that an employer must provide at least one day off after every 13 days of work. Also, an employer must abide by the other wage and hour laws such as paying overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in one week.

Outside of the available regulations and laws employment is at will. You can leave your employer if they require too much of your time and they can fire you if you refuse too work overtime. There may be other rights available to you depending on your particular situation such as if your are part of a bargaining unit (union).

Regards,

Roger
