Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
I had to sign some kind of paper before I was allowed to be employed at a small buisness which states Noncompetition..employee agrees that during the time of employment by employer and for 5 years therafter employee will not participate directly or indirectly or in any fashion engage in competition with the employer in an automobilesalvage operation and sale of salvage parts buisness within 25 miles of the business location of the employer. Now since then he decided to go on a spending spree on things he didnt really need and ran out of money. Because of that he said he is forced to lay me and anouther employee off while admitting that it was his fault that it had to be this way. I have anouther job lined up in the same industry and was wondering if he could really tell me where I could or could not work. I do have rent to pay and children to feed and was wondering if this is really a legal document

The only way to evaluate the "non compete clause is to review what you signed with an atorney to see if it is reasonable and appropriate in its geographical and time limitation considering the industry and other poyential factors..
