Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Thanks for taking my question I just graduated for high school and work 12-20 hours a week at my part time job.I been there for about 1yr 2mts. The store is closing 7/19/10. I was offered another location about 25mim away. I don't drive and the cost of my transferring is way to much. It would cost me to make this move. I was told by the management that I was not in titled to collect unemployment is this true? Thank you ,Michelle

It will depend upon whether the UC officials think that the additional commuting costs created by the employer's unilateral change of employment cricumstances are significant enough to justify refusal of the alternate position. I would recommend you file the claim and request a hearing if you are not approved on the initial application. You have nothing to lose. Becasue you have not enumerated the addtional costs, I can not offer an opinion as to thde ultimate outcome. If you wish to discuss the matter further, please feel free to contact me.
