Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Terminated

I worked as a Territory Mgr handling 130 stores. I've been with the company almost 8 years. Yesterday, I got a call from my boss stating my ''position was eliminated''. When I asked who would be handling these 130 stores, I was told other employees would be given larger territories. He stated the reason for my positon being eliminated was due to the fact that we lost a client. Is this legal?

Re: Terminated

Do you have an employment contract? If so the company is bound by it. If not you may have very little protection as Pennsylvania is an at will employment state. The employer can terminate at anytime you like wise can leave at anytime. However if the reason for your termination involved a protected right ie you were terminated becaus of age, race, religion, national orgin, based on sex, disability and several other categories then you may have a claim for discrimination. You should follow up with an employment attorney
