Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Termination of Employment Contract

I am about to receive an employment agreement from a perspective employer. Initially this would be an independent contracter situation with a specified term. The term of the contract will commence on May 6 and last 4 months. The contract will include an early termination clause that will allow either party to terminate by giving the other 2 weeks notice.

My question is this, can I terminate the contract prior to the commencement date as long as I give 2 weeks notice of the termination? (i.e. if I give termination notice on or before 4/22, is this a valid notice under the terms of the contract?).

Re: Termination of Employment Contract

No you are being paid by the contract to see the job through. you are not an employee. this is not an employment contract. you are like an aluminum siding installer or certain truck drivers. you have the right to control how the job is done. otherwise it is a subterfuge to rip you off of your workers' comp and other emnployment rights not shared by IKers.

Good Luck.
