Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

being threatened with termination

I had fell and got a personal injury while I was not working. I tore a couple ligaments in my ankle. I was told by my doctor that I should be out of work for 3 weeks. I called and told my supervisor what was going on. She told me that if I didn't come back to work in the next couple days that there would be a good chance I would be terminated. I went back to work the next day but I was in agony all day and I don't think I can get through another day. Is there anything that I can do about this?

Re: being threatened with termination

you may qualify for leave under FMLA. In any event did You go to a doctor? Has he written a note with limitations in what you can and can't do or prohibited you for working. Additionally you did not indicate how you fell. If your fall was caused by the negligence of another person this may provide an independent avenue of you to seek compensation for your pain and suffering. I would advise you contact your doctor and a lawyer.

Well first, where did you fall? If you fell as the result of someone else's negligence, they should be handling the bills. As for your work, it depends--we would need more facts. Feel free to contact me to discuss.
