Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Unemployment compensation

Hello, I have been harassed at the workplace based on national origin. I tried to resolve this with HR Manager; however, the issue was not resolved by the promised date (HR said they will resolve by Tuesday but things continued to take place after Tuesday). I am forced to work next to the person who harassed me each and every day. This causing a lot of stress. I do not have any leave of absence available. I applied all possible efforts to resolve this but still employed in hostile environment. When I said to HR Manager, that the only solution left is to resign - she said '' Got to do what you got to do'. How do I secure UC? I know that I need to resign due to good cause of a necessitous and compelling nature. Is that it? Can I go ahead and resign and secure benefits? I have evidence and witnesses of harassment. I do not want to file with EEOC but need to know my UC eligibility. Thanks!

Re: Unemployment compensation

You may have a claim. Make sure your complaints to your HR manager are IN WRITING, and SAVE a copy of the writings. Also, consult your employee handbook. If it has a 1-800 number, CALL IT, and keep notes. If this does not resolve the situation, give our offices a call.
