Unemployment and willfull misconduct
I am a nurse who was fired for missing narcotics. My former employer reported me to the state and I have joined the voluntary recovery program. I am a single mother of 2 and I filed for unemployment and they have denied me due to
''willfull misconduct''. I filed an appeal. I feel that what happened was unintentional and not willfull misconduct. I was in active addiction at the time and was not in my right frame of mind. Before this incident I had an excellent reputation there and had no prior disciplinary actions.
I really need this unemployment to help me get on my feet.
Do you think that I have a good chance of getting it or not?

While I sympathize (My wife is a nurse) I can't tell you you have a good chance of prevailing. Though the addiction certainly coimpelled you, it is generally considered voluntray and therfore willful misconduct. You may be entitled to cash assistance benefits or disability and you should explore your options. I offer free consultations.
