Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Volunteering time for employer

I work for a cheerleading/gymnastics center and was not paid for going to a competition at a facility other than where I work. I was not told this until the rception of a paycheck and noticed the time had not been accounted for. My question then is, if such a thing happens, is it legal for her not to pay, including mileage, or does she have to pay me to go to the competition, thus, volunteering my time for the business I work for.

Re: Volunteering time for employer

If you are required as part of your job to attend the competitions then you are entitled to be paid for the time. However, your employer could request that you volunteer your time and if you a agree there would be no obligation to pay you.
