Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
I work in the banking industry, and was never trained in my job just kinda thrown into and have leared along the way. A few weeks ago there was a discrpeancy with the vault cash. It takes 2 people to access it, but there is no way to prove how much was taken out. I didnt take the money and I cant prove the other person does. We have no vault custodian but they are saying since Im the head teller that its my responsibility and I could be fired for it. I have tried everything to find the missing money and determine what happened to it. I have put in stricter security policies for access the vault. Can I be fired over this, and not the 2nd person who entered the vault? Would that be discrimination?

Pennsylvania is an at-will employment state. This means that an employee may be fired for any reason or even no reason. The only limits are that an employee must not be fired for a unlawful discriminatory reason. Unlawful discrimination means that a person is a member of a protected class and membership in that class is a cause of the adverse action.
Here, the employer can certainly fire the employee so long as the firing is NOT because of membership in a protected class.
You should discuss your situation with an attorney who can advise you on what course to proceed should the worst happen.
