Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Workers
My fellow co-workers (about 10) work overnight as in--name removed--large well known department store -
recently only the women have been told that security beleives ''only'' the women are stealing - so no have to go to--name removed--register upon entering the store - and are bags and clothing are checked in in front of all the customers who are checking out ther purchases - the customers have asked us if we are being accused of stealing - we asked that this be done at--name removed--different location in the store - but the store security quard - refuses - he--name removed--male- also one of the female superisors- wants us checked in - in front of customers - also importat - usually there are less than 5 people scheduled on any night -and we are locked in from 10pm to 6am - we do not have--name removed--securtiy code to get out of the building- we can't leave for lunch- we are totally locked in. And the store is video monitored 24 / 7 -
also none of the night shift men are checked - nor are any of the 50+ day shift employees - when we asked this sercurity guard togther with this particular supervisor why we are being singled out and the day and second shift is not the reply was ''we don't have to monitor them.'' Is this legal?

Re: Workers
Probably not. You've got a potentially good claim. My question is are you or the employer in New Jersey or Pennsylvania? I usually like to offer more information but there are additional questions I need answered in order to answer correctly.
Get in touch with me and we can discuss this further.
