Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania
I began renting my apartment in 2004, I have not signed a new lease since that time. My landlord is raising my rent, he sent the notice via text message stating it was effective immediately. Are the terms of the original lease regarding rent increases still enforceable? Are there any laws in PA that state that it needs to be in writing and/or include a start and end date? Thank you

Generally when a lease expires and you become a hold over tenant. You have a month to month lease and he would have to give you 30 days notice, That said he could make the rent what ever he wants in 30 days. Clearly he wants you out. The question is why.
