Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Breaking a lease

I am relocating for work and I need to break my lease. My landlord has refused to return my calls for weeks. Is there anything I can do legally to end my lease?

Re: Breaking a lease

Not unless the lease gives you the option to terminate early, sublet or assign.

You should leave a message with your ll that you are willing to pay him/her something in exchange for leaving early. That should get their attention. Otherwise, if you just move out you will forfeit any security deposit you have and subject yourself to a lawsuit.

good luck.

Re: Breaking a lease

Try to work out an arrangement with the landlord, ie- payment for early termination, find a replacement tenant, etc...the bottom line here is without being able to review your written lease agreement, no one can give you specific advice....
