Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania
Change in your lease
I moved into a apartment in May of this year and signed a one year lease with the landlord, I have been in nursing for twenty years I've been a nurse's aid. In Nov. of 2003 we (my family) found out my niece has All Leuikmia she was in remission as of earlier this month then the doctors found that it came back with a blast! She will need a bone marrow transplant and will be sick along time she will need alot of care! My mother wants me to move back into her home to be the major care giver. Can I get out of this lease legally?, and get my sercurity back?

Re: Change in your lease
You are committed legally to the entire 12 months of the lease. However, if you wish to end the lease early, the landlord is required to attempt to find a new renter--place ads, etc. When he finds a new renter, your obligation would end. You are responsible up to that time.
