Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

college housing

My daughter signed a one year

housing lease for a college sponsored

apt. The roommates that she has

are using and selling drugs out of the

apt. they also have guests who carry

firearms. Since she was assigned

these roommates, she had no prior

knowledge of their behaviors. Does

she have grounds to break the lease?

Re: college housing

she should approach the school's housing administration and notify them of her roommate's activities and to demand immediate action. They may send police or campus patrol to search the apartment for contraband and weapons, and even arrest the roommates. Also, have your daughter to be moved to a new apartment immediately prior to their search! If they refuse, you can sue for breach of warranty of habitability. Please call us for assitance.
