Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Co-signer

My son sub-leased his apartment to someone who skipped out on the rent. My son is now is being sued by the landlord and I co-signed on the lease for my son who at the time was not a minor. I too was summoned to court, do I have to go, would I get into trouble if I don't?

Yes, you have to go. It is a civil matter so if you mean by trouble going to jail or being fined - no. However, you may end up with judgment for money placed against you. You had better go as you are probably 100% liable for whatever your son owes. The lease probably says "joint and several" liability.

Good luck.
