Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania
credit check and security deposit
My son and his girlfiend found an apt they were interested in.they filled out an application and gave the manager $150.00 for the credit check and if approved part of the 150.00 went towards the security deposit. they were approved and today were suppose to sign the lease and give the remainder of the security and 1st months rent.Friday his girlfriend decided she didn't want to be with him anymore so now my son can't afford the apt.when i spoke with the manager she said no money would be returned because they signed something stating that. he said the only thing they signed was the application.Does the manager have a right to all the money or just what it cost to do the credit check? NO lease was signed.

Re: credit check and security deposit
I doubt a credit check cost $150. Whether your son is entitled to any money back would depend on what he signed. Without a careful reading it would be impossible to say what he's entitled to.
