Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Death of Roommate

My roommate and i moved into our apartment last october (2005). 2 weeks ago my room mate passed away. I called the landlord the next day, but he was on vacation and finally got back to me yesterday. I would like to get out of the apartment as soon as possible, becuase it is quite traumatic being there. However, In discussing the situation with the landlord, he tells me that the full rent is my responsibility till the term is up (in two months), unless he finds another tenant. My question is, is this true? or does the lease need to be rewritten since a member on the lease is deceased?
