Holding of Evicted Tenant's property

after a court hearing & constable eviction and lock change, how long must a landlord hold a tenant's personal property and furnishings before disposing of it via auctioneers, antique dealers, charitable organizations, trash haulers. PS = I need the unit emptied to show it to prospects.

Some property is exempt and must be returned if the tennat wants it. Your best course is to obtain a writ of execution and have the sheriff levy the property for sale to pay any back rent. The property also might be considered abandoned and a writ might not be necessary. I offer free consultations.

Re: Holding of Evicted Tenant's property

Depends on what notice the tenant has received. I would recommend retaining an attorney to place the former tenant on notice that you intend to dispose of the property by a set date, if after proper notice is given, the property could be considered abandoned.
