Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania
landlord calling employer
my hubby is in the military, my landlord is claiming we havent paid rent for 5 months. she is calling the base and telling them we owe her money and calling us and threatening to harm us, having other people tell us if we dont give her money they will harm us. our agreement was to do work on the land and child care in exchange for living there. we have fulfilled our bargain and she is now saying we didnt. we are trying to move quickly, but the harassment is to much, my husband is being shipped out to iraq the end of this month and i have that to deal with also.

Re: landlord calling employer
People who threaten violence over a debt are probably not likely to react appropriately to a lawsuit. Contact the local police. Try to document as much as you can. Give police the names of any third parties who have heard the threats. If the police refuse to take your complaint seriously, a private criminal complaint can be filed in the District Attorney's office for the county you reside in. I offer free consultations.

You should immediately contact the police, both military and local as it relates to the threats. As for the oral contract you made with the landlord this depends on the terms. However, harrassment of any kind is prohibited by law.....immediately seek out representation before this matter spirals out of control!
You can find additional landlord / tenant material at my website at www.AlleghenyAttorneys.com.....my office also offers flat rate pricing.
