Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Lease Agreement

My husband and I were emailed by a friend offering us an apt. in Pa. with the first month free and then $300 a month. We moved here from Mi. and moved into the apt. We were then given a lease stating the rent is $450 a month plus we needed to have a total of first, last, and security deposit. With $50 xtra a month for electricity plus another $50 a month for cable. I would like to know if that is legal and if we can hold him to the first agreement or the lease.

Re: Lease Agreement

Well, did you sign the lease? If so, it will be difficult to get out of the terms of the document you actually SIGNED.

However, you could argue that you were induced based on the first offer, and that you received nothing in return for agreeing to the higher amount, and were forced to sign given that you had already moved, and had nowhere to go.

One question, though, is what was the term of the initial $300/month offer? One year?
