Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

My lease with regards to sale of property

My landlord recently informed me of his decision to sell the double block I rent from him. My lease was renewed on March 15 and is good for one year. Should a new owner take over the building, is my current lease still in effect until March 2006? And if the new owners decide to live in the building and evict me, how much notice must they give me from the time the sale is finalized?

Re: My lease with regards to sale of property

The new owners should honor your new lease, I say should because in some instances the Landlords do either a.) require a new lease to be signed with additional rental obligations and terms or b.) begin an eviction proceeding.

Your best bet is to retain counsel now before this gets messy and have your attorney work out a new deal / lease, just be sure you're happy with it and know what you are signing.

My office also offers flat rate pricing and free consultations, for additional information please visit my firm's website at www.AlleghenyAttorneys.com or by calling my office at 412.731.0865.
