lease validity

I signed a lease on thurs 4/6/06...paid 1200 on fri 4/7/06 which was sec deposit and first month rent. I was advised by landlord that apt was ready to move in and carpets were cleaned. Went to apt myself on sat 4/8/06 and discovered alot of cleaning needed done and carpets were not cleaned. Do I have the option of not moving in at all and getting my full 1200 back? Sharon

You should have an attorney review the lease you signed and discuss this matter in more detail with you as soon as possible. The longer you wait the less likely your ability to collect, if at all.
