Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Mysterious unwanted tennants

My Father owns a property (row home) in Philladelphia PA. he is and has been residing in Texas. I have been checking in on the property from time to time as we have had break ins in the past. The last time I went to the property I had seen signs of people living in the house. I called the police and confronted the people living in the home. They claim that they had paid rent ($1700.00) to the landlord and said it was my father. They produced a receipt but it had no signature and she claimed she paid in cash. The police refused to do anything, and would not allow us to even get our things. They said we were over reacting and since she had a receipt (I remind you an un signed one) they had legal rights to be there. My father rented the property to no one nor h as he received any monetary payment what so ever. What can we do?

Re: Mysterious unwanted tennants

you have to file an action in ejectment in common please court. They are considered squatters

Unless you find a lease between you and your father, you cant really evict them and have to go the long route. Call us if you need our help.
