Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Rent late disagreement

Was unavailible until 1/21 and paid rent late and had a MASIVE late fee, and two days later recv'd letter to appear in court?? ( I have lived here all but 2 yrs. and NEVER before was late, matter of fact paid most of the time 5 plus days EARLY... I can't afford even the fine/cost that was on the court paper. WHAT CAN I DO????

Thank you, please help and just leave message will get back to you ASAP....sorry for the lateness of this request, but only got the court paper (court hearing notice) late in JAN approx. 1/23 and by then I HAD PAID THE RENT EVEN WITH THE LATE FEE!! The court date is 2/18/09, I hope you can still help and it is NOT TOO late.

Re: Rent late disagreement

A lot is going to be determined by what's in your lease. There are limits to late fees. As well as notice requirements before they take you to court.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
