renter/landlord despute

my landlord had a used furnace installed.now he wants me to pay half of the bill.if i dont he is raising my rent by 100. a month which i cant afford.is this legal?

If you have a lease it should state out what the rent should be for the term of the lease.

What's his reasoning you pay anything toward the furnace. Did you break it?
