Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Repair Responsibility

I rented a house that had some pipes break over the winter while i wasn't residing there (living with my girlfriend and using the house for storage of my stuff). There was no lease/rental agreement. How much of the damage is my liability?

Re: Repair Responsibility

Alot of this depends on the terms of your lease and what the cause for the pipes breaking were.

Depending on whether you were at fault for the pipes breaking and whether the therms of the lease stated they were your responsbility regardless of how they were damaged, you could be responsible.

However, the terms of the lease could have excluded them. Again, I have seems leases written both ways. As such, the answer to do this does largely depend on the terms of the lease.
