Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Security Deposit / Damage to house

I moved out of my place on May 1. The landlord at the time of my move out made no mention of any damage to the house (he lives there). A month passed and I requested the security deposit back on May 30. He is now saying there was damage done to the living room, which I know I did not do. He says he is going to bill me for the damage. I was going to take him to court for the security deposit but I do not know how to proceed now. Any advice?

Re: Security Deposit / Damage to house

Because he didn't send you a statement of Charges with in 30 days of moving out you can sue him in DJ court for the security deposit. The law allows you to sue for 2 times the security deposit. However, if you do he can counter sue for damages otherwise he has to give you the security deposit back along with your costs of filing with the DJ.
