Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania
We have a standard PA rental agreement. My husband and I are renting a townhouse from a private landlord and since signing the 1 yr lease have gotten a job transfer to Texas. We will be moving 3 months short of our lease agreement. We will be required to give 60 days written notice and she keeps our security deposit of $3300. She also require the carpet steam cleaned. Do we have to do this even though she is keeping our security deposit as well as we continue to pay rent until the unit is rented to someone else, although my husbands company will pay off the remaining lease months. Also we places all utilities in our name and will no lOnger be occupying the unit, can we remove the utilities from our name once we move as we can not be certain what and or who is using them?

If you make good on the lease payments till the end of the term why does the landlord get the security deposit? That's to pay for damages. I think it's time you to talk to a lawyer. The landlord is trying to take money she is not entitled to.
