Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Tenant Issue

I was living in an apartment at a large apartment complex and when I signed the lease they required a $99 security deposit which I paid...well, I moved out of that complex back in July of 2008 and I am receiving bills because they are stating that the carpet in my daughters room was ruined and I am receiving bills over the amount that my security deposit was....like several hundred dollars. What should I do? I thought that this was what security deposits were for.

Re: Tenant Issue

If the damage was greater than the security deposit then you owe the landlord for damages. Whether the deposit was $99 or $999.
