Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Pennsylvania
Theres a magistrate here in Pa that is screwing me around. They gave me the option to pay a $445 fine or do 10 days in jail. I called to try to get an extension they told me no on the phone. I explained I just got a job and all I could currently pay was $320. Went in to pay today. They gave me an extension and said I have 2 weeks to come up with the rest or do 20 days in jail because I got smart with the woman on the phone. Is that legal? Also who would I turn that magistrate into for having a dog running around the office. If you touch the little yapper the judge stiffens your sentence. It's not a special needs dog or anything. Just his personal little mutt. I know there has to be some kind of law against animals in places like that.

I'm not going to comment on the conduct of this particular magistrate and his office staff. My experience with most district judges and their office staff has been positive. Nevertheless, you have the right to file a complaint with the PA Judicial Conduct Board at www.judicialconductboardofpa.org/
