Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Pennsylvania
Staph
My mother went into the hospital for 2 weeks and was doing great where she was hanging out at the nurses station and using the computer. Last I called the nurse told me she would probably be released later that day. I called the next morning and she was in ICU. It went down from there and she died less than a week later. The death certificate lists staphycoccal sepsis as the cause. They never told me that at the hospital. In fact, I even saw a nurse hit her on the shoulder while I was there. Can I possibly file any type of suit against the hospital for witholding info even after I established the right to be told any condition on her.

Your best case may be against the hospital because of the infection if you like you can give meme call
Re: Staph - I would be happy to discuss your concerns
First let me express my sympathies for your loss and everything you have been through.
If a lawsuit is appropriate, it would be related to whether your mothers staphylococcal infection could have been treated successfully before her decline to critical status.
I would be happy to discuss whether it is worth investigating. As with most malpractice attorneys, I do not charge for discussing your case.
As a doctor/lawyer, I can efficiently look through medical records to see if there were signs of infection that should have been identified and treated early on.
As far as your rights to information, you may look to Pennsylvanias Patients Bill of Rights, which is generally posted prominently at every hospital, and available online.
