Re: can someone convicted of a crime go on a military base ???

Generally speaking you are allowed to go onto a military installation with the permission of the commander of the base. Usually this is in the form of a base vehicle pass if you do not have a DoD issued decal on your car.

A conviction for a minor crime will not bar you by itself. However if you have been barred from the base by the issuance of a "bar order" from the CO then you may not enter under federal law.

There is no bar to your being "around" military personnel in the absence of a restraining order or similar determination. Under some conditions a CO may restrain his personnel with good cause, but not civilians.
