Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania
I was at a gas station/car wash today and a woman in front of me didn't have the $6.00 for the car wash. The car wash attendant had me and the person behind me back up so she could get out of the car wash. I thought the attendant was directing me backing up when all of I sudden I hit the poles behind me and damaged the bumper and tail light of my vehicle.
It was a very awkward situation and I have a witness who was behind me and said that the car wash attendant should not have let the person get out this way in such a confined area and causing such a problem(s).
Can you let me know if the gas station/car wash has any liability for this since I would never have had to back up if they hadn't caused the problem/situation.

I predict that your problem is going to be that the value of the damage is not going to be enough for you to be able to "force" the gas station to take responsibility. From what you have written, the gas station attendant may have been negligent. But you have a duty to look where you are backing-up, and if you hit something, you, too, may be negligent. Contact the gas station and ask them to have their insurance company contact you.
Feel free to call and discuss.
