Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania
Slander
I am in the process of being promoted to a new position in my company. The process, before you are hired, includes training and shadowing of other people in the position I am going for. An e-mail was sent to the management team of the company stating that I made negative statements about personnel and issues in the company. I never stated these things and the person who sent the e-mail was found to be lying by the company. Is there any legal action I can take against this person for damaging my record and my reputation? I have a copy of the e-mail.

Re: Slander
Indeed there is: making false accusations about another to prevent them from getting a job is a classic example of defamation.
Though defamation cases are always comparatively "hard," the harder part in your situation will likely be economic: first, if you ended up getting the position then a jury may not see the economic damage you suffered (even if the allegations continue to spread) and, second, a good number of individuals don't have insurance available to satisfy any judgment you receive, so any collection at the end will be from the defendant's personal assets.
I represent a number of defamation plaintiffs and I'd be happy to review your claim if you want. Otherwise, you can find attorneys through this website, through your county bar association, or though a number of other online resources.
Re: Slander
Were the lies told sufficient to shock one of your peers?
Does the person who committed the slander have resources to pay a judgment?
Good luck to you.
