You have the right to terminate a lawyer but in personal injury cases you are likely to find that your case does not move any faster with a new lawyer unless the new lawyer really is just concerned with making a quick buck and getting out of the case. All personal injury lawyers have had occasions where clients either settled cases on their own or went to another attorney who settled the case for less than it was worth.

There are a lot of reasons why personal injury lawyers are terminated. Sometimes it is because the client does not want to pay the attorney, sometimes it is because the case is moving too slow in the client's mind, sometimes it is because the attorney has told the client that the case is not worth the amount the client believes it's worth, and sometimes another attorney wants to take advantage of work that the personal injury lawyer has done without paying the first attorney. Occasionally, and I believe this is in a very limited minority of cases, the first attorney is not doing everything within their power to represent their client.

You should seriously consider which category that you are in before terminating your personal injury attorney.

Yes. You always have the right to terminate your attorney and they will have to transfer your file to the new attorney of your choice. You want to do so at a time that is not going to hurt your case, such as at the verge of the statute of limitations expiring.
